Natural salt transforms moss into a passive humidity regulator

Iceland mosses have a large surface area due to their numerous fine branches.
For indoor use of Icelandic moss, we treat the moss with natural Dead Sea salt. The salt creates a negatively charged surface on the moss's fine, branched microstructure. Humidity has a positive charge and is therefore attracted to the salty moss. The salt reacts with the humidity, changing its state from solid to liquid. This makes the moss feel soft and slightly damp. When the humidity drops, the salt releases the moisture from the moss.
This constant interaction between the salt and the humidity makes the moss a passive humidity regulator for the room air.
The larger the moss surface, the greater its capacity for moisture retention. Over the years, this effect can diminish. The original salt concentration can then be restored with a special salt solution for Icelandic moss. The mosses should never be sprayed with water or exposed to rain, as this will wash away the salts.
Natural salt improves indoor air quality by reducing fine dust and aerosol pollution

The behavior of suspended particles such as fine dust and aerosols depends on the humidity. The higher the humidity, the better the suspended particles are bound by the humidity and the longer the particles float in the air. Due to the electrostatic charge difference between moss and humidity, the humidity also attracts the fine dust and aerosols to the salt in the moss. The moisture is bound by the salt and the suspended particles are thus neutralized. If the bound suspended particles on the surface of the moss become too large, they fall off. Since the size is in the micromillimeter range, there is virtually no visual impairment on the surface.
The dyeing of the Iceland moss is done with certified eco-dyes

Only color pigments compatible with the German BfR IX standard (in accordance with European Resolution AP (89) 1, EU Directive 94/62/EC and CONEG) are used in the dyeing process. The colors are approved for use in children's toys.

Our moss pictures have excellent acoustic properties

Moss pictures have an exceptionally positive effect on room acoustics. The microstructures of the moss absorb sound, thus reducing sound reflections, especially in the speech frequency spectrum. Additionally, the felt backing material also acts as a sound absorber. For rental moss mats, 5mm thick felt is used as the backing for the moss. Moss pictures and moss walls are therefore ideally suited for use as acoustic panels or acoustic walls.
Our moss pictures are suitable for allergy sufferers

Icelandic moss treated with natural salt and gently dyed does not provide a growth environment for microbes or insects.
When interacting with the room air, dyed Icelandic mosses have extremely low microbiological emissions as well as extremely low emissions of volatile organic compounds.
